Hi, I'm Byron

A marketer and communicator, my experience includes the manufacturing, distribution, technology and creative services industries.

Colleagues are often surprised to learn I was an early-career credit and customer service manager, where I learned many valuable lessons. Later managing product launches, marketing programs and tactics, I excelled at discovering the often overlooked connections that inspire a memorable story or message. Today I use those experiences to help clients state their purpose and value, and to start conversations with their associates, customers and prospects.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism & Public Relations from the University of Kansas, and an MBA from Avila University. I volunteer at arts and entrepreneurial organizations, have mentored 10+ early-stage ventures and write about podcasts at www.startlandnews.com

What I do

I provide content writing, publicity and marketing consulting services to individuals and organizations seeking to grow their visibility, recognition and revenue. I help them solve problems due to low awareness or understanding about who they are, what they do, why it matters, and who can benefit from their product or service.

Together, we work to tell their stories and ideas by writing or collaborating on articles, ads, profiles and many other tactics. I'm often asked to edit business plans and documents like RFPs, and can create polished content from others' high-level ideas or stalled-out rough drafts.

My work appears on client web sites, blogs, direct mail, LinkedIn, trade publications and more. Samples are on the Portfolio page; click on any image to view.

Separately, my media placements for clients have helped boost their public image, event attendance and fundraising results. I do this by crafting and pitching their unique story to new and established contacts.

How I work

I work solo or with teams -- on-site or remotely -- whatever best suits the client. If needed, I can involve colleagues whose expertise ranges from Social Media to Investor Relations, and creative disciplines from design to videography. My volunteer activities and role as Programs Director of the Freelance Exchange of Kansas City have created a robust professional network.

For any project, I take pride in being an attentive listener and skilled interviewer to focus on the problem at hand and deliver the desired solution.
